Which Mechanical Thumb for pc150?
I have a 1997 PC 150. I need a mechanical thumb for a large boulder wall job I have coming up. I know its not as good as a hydrulic one, but I can't see spending 10-12k on something for a machine that might be worth 20k.
I need to get this ordered up tomorrow so please let me know what brands are best! Thanks |

Have you checked machinery trader for a used hydraulic thumb? If you can try and find a used one, you will be happy you did. Or mabee even look for a full grapple.

I had very good luck with a Solsbee thumb. Used it a lot over the years I owned it. Never had an issue. If you order a new one....ask them to turn the pin, the one you pull out to lower the thumb and strut into working position, down about 1/16th of an inch in diameter. It makes getting it in and out much nicer.

Get a narrow one, that way you can still get your stick into the skinny trenches, that's if you use a narrow trenching bucket.
