I thought I heard they are adding copper to the roofing mix to stop this.

im not sure about copper? but i know they do have a option now for shingles that can resist the mold better, im not sure what the additive is now however I do know that it is more expensive

Great looking results with that low pressure roof cleaning!

Algae Resistant (AR as they call them) shingles are coated with a copper oxide, but the warranty is only 8-15 years depending on the brand and quality level opf the shingle.
