wide area commercial HONDA walkbehinds

are the honda commercial walkbeind (wide area) like 36", 48", 52" any good i see them pop up on craigslist here and there and they are cheap and similarly built like the old bunton mower. i was just wondering from anyone's personal experience

Everything I've ever read about them said that they're great. But they do have a major problem that kept them from becoming popular. Parts for them were difficult to get and took forever to get. They were apparently an all Honda design and manufacture in Japan and because there weren't many of them here in the States, most parts had to come from Japan. If you've never had to wait on a part to arrive from another part of the world you're in for an experience. It takes a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks.

well thanks for the incite cause i mean it look to be a cool design and all but i had always wondered. and yes wait for parts sucks

i have a fleet of robin powered snappers and waiting for parts from japan used to be an issue. no longer a problem-there arnt any parts to wait for anymore

Robin engines dont need parts....lol

I did have a time getting stuff for my 6.0 robin engine on the old snapper 21, had to get some of the little brackets welded.

I have a mini excavator madie in "China" and its a real challenge to get parts for.

lucky they dont need parts often. yes the 6,5 is the hardest to get parts for. i was lucky to get 4 spare motors so i just use them for parts. -i once waited 6 months for just an air filter

Here are a few details:

HRC7013: 13hp, 36" or 48" deck. Twin hydrostatic drive motors. Based on Bunton frame/deck and final assembly done at Bunton Co. in Louisville, KY.

HRC7018 / HRC7020: 18/20hp with 52" or 60" decks. Twin hydrostatic drive motors.

HRC7113: Gear-drive version (lower cost). Slightly different controls.

The HRC7013 (first built in 1993) is the oldest, and generally speaking, the older the unit, the more likely parts will be discontinued or No Longer Available. For example, the carburetor for the original HRC7013 is discontinued.
