Join the club! I seem to have an overactive sense of humor, and my wife sounds just like yours. I apologize to my wife all of them time.

After making a (what most people would consider) funny comment and she doesn't laugh at all, I say "oh, I'm sorry, I forgot you have no sense of humor". You can imagine how much better that makes the situation.
