mulching with old Jacobson crew-king..height?

I thought I'd try this this year..had mower for years in shed and great shape. I do have chute block on and baffle underside. I still need to get gator blades or such but ones on there (2) are 12 3/4" long each and not sure thats right ones as measures 34" across deck?..But the question is this: Mower is set quite low in front by me for trying it on mulching..But the back where it's bolted to frame is set in highest setting. their is another set of holes so I could lower it another inch or so in back..Do I want it somewhat lower for mulching? back is quite high compared to front right now. I can raise front but then deck would be several inches above grass? As it is now it leaves lines of chopped leaves along edge as mowing- may not get away from that but wondering if lowering back will help. Thanks
