How to go through pavement?
Customer needs to irrigate an area that is on the other side of fresh pavement.
Best route by far is direct line under pavement. Plan was to trench and put a sleeve in . Customer would take care of pavement after trenching and pipe install. Heavy trucks use the pavement. Boring is not an option. I have been told here that regular trenches like a Dingo need special teeth for pavement. Ditch Witch says they have a 50 hp model that will do the job. $700 for the rental. About 100' total to be trenched. Opines anyone? John |

Why is boring not an option?

The company here that can bore this area wants 2k to do the job. Too much for the customer. Looking for some way to trench and sleeve.
We need to put pipe and cable inside a sleeve as the traffic would shred just pipe and cable alone. IMHO. John |

If your going to trench it, why not just cut out the section of pavement and remove it. Then just trench through the base and soil underneath?

Use a cutoff saw with a diamond blade and dig by hand or a lesser trencher. 700 for a rental is crazy

2 grand is a good price to bore 100 feet under pavement . By the time you cut the pavement , trench or hand dig , rent a jumping jack to compact the dirt , and then they spend money to restore the pavement the cost will be the same if not more .
If you are good rent a missile with 60 feet of hose , cut out a rectangle at the mid point and shoot each way , now you only have a small patch . |

My longest shot was 55 feet , it was tight clay and mica soil . It was with a 2.5 millsile under a parking lot for an electrician running new wires to a light pole . $ 20.00 a foot

We have the boring unit on our DW 255 so no missile available.
Will check on a concrete cutting saw. Thanks all. John |
