New to spraying and fert. application

I have owned a lawn care and landscaping company now for a while. I want to getting into spraying and fertilizing. I need any advice as to where I should start! I know I need to be certified but am curious about equipment. To give you an idea i will be doing residential yards so i don't need a tank over 200 gallons and I don't have 8k to spend on a ride on.
Any advice would be great!
