These are Kawasaki engines, correct? If so, is the dipstick getting dark as well? A darkening dipstick is sign of an engine getting hot.

Yes, Kawi engine...dipstick no change in color.

Since all of these engines are from the same family there is a good chance that all of them use oil. Most manufacturers do not think a usage of 1 ounce per hour is excessive.
Running a straight 30 weight oil might help some.

The seal that sits on top of the fuel tank connecting the fuel line to the tank with the on off fuel line switch broke causing the fuel tank to have a small hole. I didn't pay much attention to it. But I was wondering if air getting into the fuel take could cause excess oil usage. I've glued the seal back into the hole, but I'm wondering if this could somehow have affected my oil darkening as it's the only thing out of place I can see on the mower.

Negative...you could pull the fuel out of an open bucket if you wanted...a swimming pool. Neither would affect oil usage.
