Today I got a little more information about how to make sure you get the correct replacement light:
please request "revision B" for the 15711 (I believe most of the distribution has this revision in stock but just in case). This revision can be found on the label listed on the front of the box. .

As far as the chlorine side of it goes, i'd be curious to find out what kind of chlorine they were using. The cheaper "shock" chlorines or even some of the granular chlorine uses Calcium Hypochlorite as the active ingredient, which will even leave a whitish layer on swimming pool walls from the calcium in it...
