how long does it take to install vinyl lettering?

To those of you that have lettered up your trucks, I ask this question. It's nothing fancy. Regular cab chevy truck. Logo on both doors; website on the side of the bed; and logo and some writing on tailgate. I ask this because I started working for a roofing company selling roofs, and they pay to have it done, but I need my truck to do lawn care the day it's going to be done. How long should it take?

Seems like the question is best asked of the company actually doing the lettering?

And, to clarify, am I reading this correctly that your day job is paying to have your personal vehicle lettered up with their branding?

They pay for the lettering. I'm not expanding the lawn care business any more than I have. I've only got 7 full service accounts and I have a good personal relationship with them all. I'm in college right now and I'm trying to broaden my horizons by working elsewhere to see what I'm in to. I appreciate the concern, though. I did ask the company today. Really the only reason I asked here was to get a quick answer and thought the installation process time was about the same. They told me it would be done in 30-60 minutes.

do you plan to have the lettering on for long? I have removed lettering that has been on for as little 2 years, and there has been a noticeable difference in the paint. you could still clearly make out all of the letters in the paint. detailers tried everything, the only option was to repaint.

so im hoping they are paying you substatially more to letter your truck. Also check with your insuance carrier and confim they will cover your full policy in the event of an accident. get it in writing from them. many insurance companies will not cover a persoally registered & insured vehicle being used for commercial puposes. Also check on weather your state requires commercial plates when a vehicle is lettered. here in MA, they will neal you $100 a day for lettering with no com. plates.

Thanks for reminding me about the insurance thing. I need to call on Monday. As far as tags go, Alabama doesn't do commercial tags.

Also, the truck paint isn't in great shape. I'm sure the vinyl lettering will take its toll, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

The job IS commission based, but being in North Alabama, there is a lot of storm damage. I make, on average, $900 a roof with this job. It pays very well. They're a great business to work for. Owners are good Christian father and son guys.
