[QUOTE=Hawkshot99;4563983]I dont hide it but dont promote it.

Thats what I've always done, no deception intended. If asked point blank like I was this year by a new client I tell them just what I do.

This new client told another customer of mine and that customer was delighted to here what my full time job is, elevating me to a higher level in his eyes.

A happy customer is a good thing.

Why would it come up? There's a difference between friends and customers. Mow, blow and go.

This gentleman from the house next door to one that I service stopped me one day this past September and asked would I take over his lawn/yard work.

We walked around the yard and agreed on prices and then he point blank asked me what my full time job is.

Stunned me for a second but I answered him truthfully and he was ok with it, no problem.

Maybe, as someone else stated, he figured I had another job because I'm always there working in the late afternoon/evening.

Other than that I don't know why it came up but it worked out fine.

No friends, just great customer relationships.

Lineman for my local power company. Been there for 21+ years and worked 3 years prior to that for the TVA on their towers and hi-lines.

Good to see another lineman here. Been with Alabama power 2 years. Been cutting grass part time about 5 years and a span of about 2 years full time.

I design hvac and plumbing systems for buildings as my main source of income. I do the lawn service stuff so that I get off my butt and get some exercise.

can it be done full time? i hope so. i work at a chocolate factory on the overnight shift. 50+ hrs a week, right now i normally only have enough lawn work to do in one full day, but gotta pick up my kid the other days, got saturday for extra work, make up work. i much rather working a day job and doing lawns in the evening because i get to sleep more. none of my customers ask, and i don't tell. its easy to hide because i'm usually out working or doing estimates during the normal daytime hours, i usually don't see my customers (the few that i have). only problem is i can't answer my phone certain times of the day, because i do have to work sleep in there somewhere.
