Can you backfill a bore hole under a driveway?
We have to put a 4" Schd 40 pipe under a driveway. Is there anyway to get some dirt back in there?

you can use a grout or slurry pump or one of those pumps the oil tank abandonment companys use. I think its like a weak concrete mix

The red letter sch 40 pvc pipe is a lot stronger than the foam core (black letter) sch 40. Home depot only sells the cheap foam core pipe so you would have to buy it from commercial plumbing supply co like thomas somerville.
Are you putting this pipe in to run irrigation pipe or conduit to the other side of the driveway? And are you boring with a 4" torpedo mole? If so, there shouldn't be any void space on the outside of the pipe when installes and there shouldn't be a need to fill the inside of the pipe. Last edited by blakescape; 10-26-2012 at 12:22 AM. |

Like Jim said if you missile, directional bore, or jack it under the drive there should be very little or no space to fill.

I would think the foam-core stuff is DWV pipe. No big pressure worries there.
