March is the key month for marketing. If you market right you can get enough customers for all year. People do landscape installs in JAN around here on new construction, without any winters anymore anything is fair game. I would really shoot to market in March and forget about getting new customers by May, after that it's all referral's from other customers

Okay. Here we go. I don't own a stump grinder. Usually near the end of January I rent one and grind up all the stumps from the previous year that I have scheduled. I start my mulch jobs around Valentine's Day. I can get them done in three weeks. All year long I watch very closely and write down every address where I see a lawn being mowed commercially ( mainly just US LAWNS ) they give me allot of business. I don't know why but it happens. I send potential customers out the standard offer packet that I send to all business and residential customers that I target. But most importantly on the outside of the packet it says, " If you are happy with your current lawn service please discard " in big letters. I think it is very wrong to underbid and steal customers. Too much of that is already going on in this industry. That is why we are still working for 1993 prices in this industry. I send all this material out in the middle of Feb.
