Roof Anchors

I'm looking for input on using roof anchors and harness for some fall protection. I did find a thread where it was referenced that CD likes to use harnesses to hang their lights but that was about it.

We use chicken ladders for gable work and just an extension or little giant ladder for most everything else but there is the periodic house that simply is terrifying to get up on. This one we had last year, the 40' ladder barely made it over the eaves on the front of the house. (before you ask, we did the roof lighting and the homeowner did all the other crap )

Anyway, I've been talking to a friend who owns a roofing company and he told me to remove a ridge cap and fasten the anchor under there and then remove it and replace the ridge cap. I will do that if needed, but how do you guys who use harnesses anchor yourself to the roof?
