Today was the first I went out.

Many of my clients have either had me stop, or have gone to biweekly for mowing, so thankfully, it didn't set me back - other than financially.
I had a few cleanups scheduled, but high winds and steady rain are not a good recipe for leaf cleanups.

I got six cut today. I'll do some work this weekend if I can. I think next week will wrap up a lot of them for the season though.

Horrible week financially. I billed out a full month in October for most customers. I usually shoot for 2-3 mows in November plus cleanups. Losing this week will make it difficult to get 2 mows out of most of the yards for the month. I serviced a few yards today, it will not make up for the lost revenue. The Grandstand had to go to the shop today, something with the governor. Be glad when this year is over to be honest.

We had crews go out every day but Tuesday. Didn't cut much grass, mostly only at the cheaper accounts and retail stores where the soil is always hard. Spent most of the week cutting down ornamental grass, daylillies, spirea, knockout roses, etc etc.

Out the window!

Today was the first day out for the week. In 17 years, I do not ever recall any event where I lost three consecutive days due to weather. This time, it was four consecutive days lost.

Yes, this officially destroys all semblance of a work schedule. Now, it is just scrambling to get to the property that I deem highest priority to take care of leaves. Out of all properties, I think I have only one that has a grass cutting priority -- and it has no leaves. There are still some leaves to drop, but the trees are over the hump, with many of them bare.

I only got 3 1/2 jobs finished today. This afternoon was especially miserable when sitting on the ZTR for an hour. I nearly had to call somebody to pry me out of the seat I was so stiff. That thing is very cruel to me in cold weather. My old body just doesn't do well in those situations. After than excursion, back to blowing out beds, pushing the wheeled blower around, hauling tarps away, etc. That was a relief!

BTW, the 1/2 job was getting beds blown out of a property next to one that I worked just before, and the one I will return in the morning. I ended this work in a heavy drizzle, light shower (about 6:00-6:30).

Lots of work to do now. Some of the leaf jobs seem overwhelming. Next week looks favorable with regard to weather.

Sheesh. Gets dark FAST!
Need to install headlights on my mower.

That, or get up and head out earlier in the morning.

Googling "mower headlights" now...

Good day today, as well as Friday, and Saturday. Both Friday and Saturday afternoon were cold, cold, and cold. Apparently, I didn't dress warm enough. Today, I did dress warmer and was OK. Hands: cold! Double gloves, but hands on the ZTR handles, or on the w/b handles (metal) is a killer. What is everybody using? Every year, my hands are more of a problem than the year before -- just keep getting more difficult to keep warm. Circulation must be getting slower and slower -- just like the rest of the body!

Weather forecast looks dry the next several days. Lots of leaves to process! However, I am beginning to see "over the hump." Many of the bigger trees have dropped 80% or more. Some optimism in the mix of perspectives.

Yea, dark early! Left at 7:00 this morning, home by 5:30. Sunset is listed at 5:12 p.m. for today.

Only time I used gloves this year was last Wednesday am when it was 35 and snowing and I was running the zero turn so I might not be the best to ask.
