How do you prove you were there??
I just had a new client (new this year) email me and basically state that he didnt think I did 2 leaf clean ups at his house in Oct. My question is what do you guys do to prove/document you performed a service on a lawn.....when it could very well look like you were never there 1 hour after you leave....
THanks I am thinking door hangers, small yard signs, phone calls, etc....

That sounds like a customer that needs to be replaced ASAP! I can't stand when they try pulling that.

I bought door hangers for real cheap. They have check boxes. I only use them for PITA customers.
BTW. Be the bigger man and send that jack wagon a dear john letter. It will be the best feeling ever . Nobody needs that added stress! |

YUP! We installed on board cameras in our trucks for plowing because I got so sick and tired of a few people who couldn't get the concept of it's snowing 2"/hr and windy.....yeah, its going to look like we were never there an hour later! "Do ya want me to stream you the video to your email?" Customer..."No that wont be necessary, keep up the good work". LOL When you take pictures just make sure there's a time and date stamp on it. We do this for ALL of our fall clean ups if they aren't home and keep them all until their final bill is paid.

I keep a running log of each customer I service along with the date and time. I could go back and tell you what customer I mowed last August (2011) on a Thursday at 9am. Having a running log should do the trick. Kind of hard to lie about 5+ months of writing times and dates for customers properties you took care of, especially when you can go back months and months.

Just had the same conversation with a customer.
" wondering if your guys skipped me this week , if they did I'm sure they didn't catch it there are leaves everywhere" My response " as a matter of fact mrs. ........... We switched up mow routes this week, I mowed your property and yes I caught all the grass and leaves, even the row that you raked out of the beds onto the lawn" Her response " thanks Greg keep up the good work" Have a nice day, Good luck guys, it is all part of the game. |

Digital camera = fool proof billing. I have done it since day 1 and actually advertise it as part of my services. I do alot of vacation homes and they seem to really appreciate being able to see before and after.
