When is it enough? How many supplies can you store? A week, a month, a year? Simple fact of the matter is many people simply do not have the ability to prepare for any possible contingency, short or long term. The only people who are truly prepared are those who are 100% self sustaining, anyone who thinks otherwise is just clueless.

We are all dependent on fossil fuels. As Kiril said, "off grid, self sufficient" will work, to a point. We carry 60 gallons of propane, so can last quite some time, but if Safeway/Trader Joe's is down for an extended period, we're screwed, just like everybody else.

It's a bit more like the aging GOP is simply not doing a good job selling its virtues to the citizens of today, not to mention that the really old fuds know enough of history to be wary of increasing the distance between the wealthy and the working classes.
