New on the Forum

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm in the industry, but not in the field. Im the office manager for a fairly established business in NE Georgia. I originally found this site just looking for general answers, but lately we've had some issues with supervisors and I'm really looking for some solutions to that.

Our company provides all landscape need, including maintenance, irrigation, installation, hardscapes and drainage. Our owner has his history in turf on golf courses and sports fields. You could say turf is our specialty.

Hi Grassmaiden!
Where in NE Georgia? I was up in Dillard GA(about as north east as you can get!) with the family a couple months ago, really beautiful area!

I am from North Alabama(Huntsville) - so sort of close!

You are pretty close. How is business in the Huntsville area?

It's good, in the middle of leaf season right now! Hopefully they will keep falling for a while...

Hello maiden of grasses.

Solution to problem ... demote (or fire) the supers you are having issues with, promote promising candidates.

Hey Kiril! We are in the process of standardizing our practices and implementing procedures, which has not been done with this company. We are hoping with this we can actually put into place consequences. Unfortunately our area doesn't have a lot of options for great employees. Being a supervisor for us still requires hard work (ie. ditch digging and install work). I don't think they realize that coming into the job. I think they are expecting to get a lot of windshield time in, which just doesn't apply.
