Walk Behind or Stand Behind??

So leaf season has been very generous to me this year. Thanks to a few cleanups, we now have several new clients. So now I've got to start planning for next year on what new mower I'm gonna buy.

I already own a John Deere Z-Trak, but due to the hills on some of these yards, the Z-Trak isn't gonna work. I need something that can handle inclines extremely well without leaving lines where the deck has dug into the turf.

So whats everyone's suggestion on what to buy??

Ive got a BOP 36" single hydro Id be willing to sell, awesome machine on hills. Like new condition, still has the paint marks on the tires.

If I can't put a stander on it, I won't take the account. I only had one last season I had to turn away, for that reason, but it was on the side of a mountain even the 21" was a ***** to use it was so steep, I gave it one cut then gave a price for pushing the entire yard, of course he said no way! He's going to regret buying that house LOL!

Well without knowing the pitch of the properties you service, I would suggest a walk behind. If you ever get in a place where you're concerned the deck will scrape you can easily push down like on a push mower style mower and you won't scrape. But, the walk behind will less likely cause ruts, etc.

Thanks guys. Some of the properties are anywhere from 20 to 45 degree slopes. Some may be steeper. I have a feeling a walk behind its probably going to be my best bet. Thanks for the input

AMEN, I gained 2 accounts this year one being a church because I was able to mow the hill with my toro grandstand and everyone else had to push mow it, the other person said he would give me a extra 5 dollars a mow if I could do it.

Ok so for the guys with standers. Why did you go with a stander over a walk behind???

I got the toro grandstand because you can do both, and I have always thought toro cut better then most mowers. I spend 8,000 for mower OCD chute, atomic blades, bagger.

Actually the GS is pretty useless in stander mode, we never use ours as standers.

Several reasons actually.

1- versatility
2- why walk when you can ride?
3- trailer space one walk behind or two standers?
4- great cut
5- Just like the stander style of mower, only thing better would be a walker and we will be getting one of those in the near future.
