It is micro and metadata formating to help search engines know what you are talking about.

If you say grass or bermuda, how is it to know what exactly you are talking about.

I have not mastered the RDF, RDFa or Schema's yet and plan to get back into it over the coming month.

Then Facebook as their open graph format as well.

As Duekster points out, you definitely don't need to go crazy with location keywords. To further illustrate it, if you're on your home computer, hit Google and try searching for lawn care without even mentioning your location to see why.

As for only needing to use Savannah, as it's your exclusive target, your target market doesn't include Parkwood, Oakdale, etc? That's the kind of specificity I'm referring to.

To be fair, It is well over my head as well but I am playing with it.
However, it is not needed as much as it is appreciated by search engines. There will likely come a time when it will boost you.

It still falls in line with good content, with clear information for the web. Think of it as a card catalog in a library, Author, content, date and related topics.

I am dabbling in Drupal which IMHO is the geeky side of CMS / open development software.

LOL check this out. Google does not use Rich Snippets but the microdata still helps

I read it as him saying that his service area consists of only Savannah and that he fears over-stuffing his content with just the word "Savannah".

Just what tonygreek said, because of the exclusive area that we currently serve, I don't whant to keep utilizing the same key words "savannah lawn care and landscaping" I want my content to flow, but don't want to keep using the same words like I'm doing right now
