Too Early to start advertising for spring?

I live in South Central Pa. and want to do some advertising for the upcoming 2013 season. Is it too early to start advertising lawn care and pressure washing services for the 2013 spring season? Will people see the ads and forget all about it because it is only December 2012/January 2013? What are you guys doing in the way of advertising for the upcoming season if any?

Depends where you are from and the form of advertising. Just today i signed up with a company that makes score cards for golf courses. They charged me $750 to have a business card sized ad on a section of their scorecards. It will be on the scorecards of 3 golf courses and each produce about 50,000 scorecards a year! $750 for a 2 year deal on 3 golf courses sounds like a good deal to me.

Im still selling maintenance clients as of today two for December! I guess it varies for your area.

Its never a bad time to advertise. The more they see your company, the better your chances are that they call you when they need your service.

I'm not planning anything extra this month, but in January, I'll be putting out some door hangers in a couple of new housing developments in my area. If we happen to have an early start to the mowing season like this past year, February may be too late to get those new homeowners on board. I'd rather be a little early on those. I do like the scorecard idea, but I'll have to wait until we grow a little more to justify that expense.

I have a flyer hanging at my brother's garage. I will meet with a new client tomorrow to discuss a spring job. I won't be media advertising until January though.

I tried that also, so far nothing not one lead from it, I'm thinking it may be a scam.
