Easy. Word of mouth, neighbors of accounts I manage asking for fliers when im at the property, craigslist, and of course door to door marketing helps too.

How fast can you walk? That's how fast we edge with a stick edger. Simple decision = consistencicy + speed + safety. The question is why would any professional want to use a trimmer to edge every day other than asphalt? Its easier to rest the edger wheel on the ground and walk...easy enough for a minimum wadge job + save trimmer line and trimmers for 'trimming' and bed edging.

i think the population of my town is only 50,000. i will never get millions of calls lol.

Haha millions is an exaggeration. During the spring last year I got around 30 calls a day. I turned down a ton of work simply because I couldnt handle more than 10 lawns a day solo.

If I was getting that many calls a day, I would find a way to get the work done. Last spring I was getting 10 or more calls a day and I did my best to get every job that called, even if it meant calling in help, if the work is there get it done at all cost.

hey i wouldn't worry about it guys. that's where you wanna be in your business. then you can pick and choose what you wanna do. i'm lucky if i get 2-3 calls in one day here. i think the most i ever had in one day was 5. you kinda gotta take whatever you can get here. you guys have the luxury of sorting it all out and taking the ones you wanna take to fill up your schedule and then passing on the others.

My prices do the sorting for me, the tighter the schedule gets the higher the prices go obviously to a point but if I get the work at the right price I find a way to make it happen

If you're really getting that many calls it's a great opportunity to do some cherry picking and raise your prices. I know that when I first started out my name & phone number spread like wild fire among my customer's friends and neighbors and they seemed to have an endless supply of work for me. I was like, wow, this is easy. It was because I wasn't charging enough....I thought making $20 to $25/hour was good money. If you're really getting that many calls above and beyond your capacity, I recommend you play around with your pricing and try to see just how much you can get.
