Carburetor question.
I was wondering if the fh 500 kawasaki carb is interchangeable with the fh 541? They both are 14 h.p..Are there other prerequisites?

I believe they are both 17 hp....
If the linkages are the same...bolt it on and try it...

On two random picks of the 500 and 541, the part numbers of the carb were not the same. I didn't do any further investigation so, as Slapper indicates, give it a shot. If the carbs have the same configuration/linkage, it's possible that the only difference may be in orfice sizes of the main jet.

Sorry!!
Both those motors are 17 horse.Hey Dutch , will the different size jets cause too much gas to go in the chambers and blow up the motor??

Eh... That depends on how rich. Too much gas will wash the oil off of the cylinder walls and rings.

That shouldn't be a problem.
If it just happens to be a difference of orfice sizes, it won't be very dramatic. With the spec numbers from the two engines, you can go to www.kawpower.com and check for differences in part numbers. Just a shot in the dark, but I'd guess the carb body part numbers will be the same but the jets may be different. |
