briggs 1150 seized ?

I have a three year old craftsman snowblower ,that the engine has sezed up on after not even two tanks of fuel run through it.I can get a brand new briggs 1150 ,but a summer one for $350.00 ,just wondering what needs to come from the junk motor to convert it to winter use ? Anybody have an idea what replacing the piston in my old one would cost me parts -wise ?
Thanks for any help offered .
