renewing customers
I'm kind of new to this site. I have about 35 verbal accounts(residential).Mowing starts up here around the 3rd week in march. Just wondering what do you guys think when would be good to call customers and ask if they want me to mow again. any other suggestions would also be helpful. *also, last year was my first year on my own.

Unless they told u to only now for the past season when grass starts growing I would just continue cutting unless told otherwise , that's what we do

Thats understandable, but what if someone else comes up advertising and one of the customers gets them because they haven't heard from me. I picked up a couple like that.

Send out a letter at the beginning of the year letting your custoemrs know you are still there, and welcome them to a new year and tell them when your season starts.Confim with them the price of the service for the new year as well.

I had thought about maybe doing an evaluation letter, giving them a free landscaping evaluaton or maybe a free soil testing right before the season starts.

That sounds like a pretty good idea.

While renewing accounts automatically sounds good, houses sell, people die, and people make other arrangements without telling you. So doing work for someone that is not going to pay you doesn't sit well with me. So every year we have to send out new contracts but you do get to review them as you do. And we raise prices where needed it allows you to ask yourself did I even make money on the account and do I even want that account back.

Keep in contact with customers all year round.
While you are doing "Nothing" in the off-season...continue to think of ways to grow your business while providing the same quality service you have been. Example: Think of ideas why your current customers should continue to use your service. |
