no you are actually correct.. Not in the fact of a "whiter roof" that is just some soap left on it will be gone after the first rain..

However we found that on a 3k sq foot home with stains on the roof such as those,maybe a little darker- you can save between 35-50$ per month in the summertime on your cooling bill! pretty cool
