cherry laurel insect

hi, need some help identifying the insect killing off cherry laurels on a property. there are a lot of laurels, so need to control this. in PA. thanks, tried looking it up but still not sure. maybe psyllids?

The insect is scale. Horticultural oils applied at certain times of year and at certain stages of insect development are recommended. Might need some systemic application at the base of the plant to totally eliminate this pesky problem. Also don't pile mulch at the base of the plant.

Thanks, with your help traced it to white prunicola scale, common on prunus species

I had that last year. Horticultural oil works great but risky in the hot summer and sometimes hard to get it to the wood. Merit in the spring seemed to prevent it better through the summer.
