What should i pay for a brake controller?
Hey guys,
what should i expect to pay for a break controller for my 02 toyota tundra? trailer would be a dual axle 7k trailer thanks |

Should be able to get a decent one for $100 or so, plus install. Most of the newer trucks the install is easy. Not sure what it's like on yours.

Brake controller
I paid about $65 for mine at the local Farm & Home store. Also, if your truck is pre-wired for a controller, then I would get the pre-wired cable for your truck & controller. If you do a little search, you can probably find a controller & cable from one of the on-line trailer stores.

Hmmm...I did a search and for the units I looked at they didn't have a cable for 2002 Tundras...they started at 2003. Not sure if that's because the truck isn't pre-wired or not. So much easier when it's just a matter of mounting the unit and plugging it in.

Turns out my truck is not prewired as you said darryl. so he said it will be $120 for controller, and total $450 for wiring and everything. im going to go to another place hopefully and see what they charge.

Do it yourself. It's simple. You need a main hot wire off the battery and a good ground going to the brake box. Then run a with from brake box to brake light switch (mounted near brake pedal). Then run a wire from brake box to trailer plug mounted on your bumper.
You can handle it. |

well i got it done for $250 including the price of the brake controller its self. including wiring and everything thanks guys.
