Looking for some bidding help

I have been reading and learning a lot sense I've been on the site. I'm looking to double my job number this year and was looking at bidding hints and tips. The one thing I have read on the last couple post, is seeing the previous bid from the past year. My question is how professional does this make you look? Also is there anything special I need to look at about bidding gas stations? I have the chance to try and get about 3 stations owned by the same guy. I am also looking at bidding 3 cemetary jobs, I already have one and 2 of the 3 im going for are about 2 acre jobs the other 1 is probably a 5 acre. I'm in more need of help with the gas station bids, asking about the previous bid. Any other tips and tricks will be taken into consideration as well hope I can get some help.

Are you talking about going up to a prospect and asking to look at the current/previous companies bid and then putting in a bid of your own?

Never ask for the previous bid. Instead ask questions to the owner about what he wants done.

Biggest thing is to know your time and cost. Everyone will have different overhead. Wen you look at big jobs think about how long it will take you to complete the job.

Yes, at least that how I'm taking it from what I read from some post. I always thought if I won the bid then I would ask what the previous bid was but asking it before would be like cheating.

Sense I got the one cemetary job already it wont be that hard for me to base it off of that, but everything else it trial and error im thinking.

With gas stations, you want to make sure you get enough to cover the time it will take to pick up all the trash. That would be the biggest issue for me.
