Paver Question

I have a customer that has a front concrete porch (6 X 20) covered with a overhang. The porch is off the ground about 17 inches supported by a brick masonry wall around it. They asked my to extend the porch space to (11 X 20).

We plan to build a retaining wall around the area that would extend the porch and create a curved walkway sloping down to the driveway. The walkway will have a free standing wall on both sides.

I wanted to overlay the pavers on the existing concrete porch and build a base up to the edge of the slab for the extended area. This would bring the height of the pavers to 1/2" below the door opening. However, the pavers will be butted against the wood trim. I have never come across this before and wondered if this would be a problem. Since the porch is raised and covered there shouldn't be any moisture problem, but I'm not sure.

Has anyone done this before?
