Sod is by the square foot. Grading- i know i can do almost any residential grading job in a day so just my daily rate for the skid and usually a man to grab roots rocks etc

Figure out your material costs, machine costs, labour costs, transport costs etc then divide that by the square foot or hour. How ever you are wanting to price it

For how long you have to warranty the sod.

This is how I would do it for my business.
Prep work Machine cost to rent per day.+50% markup. Labor rate for me plus 1 laborer. Sod. My cost per pallet laid$175+50%=$262.50/425 square feet installed to the customer. I will then go back over the lawn and overseed it at a 6lbs/1K' rate to get a denser stand at a rate of $25/1K' My guarantee is that it is healthy green grass when we left and will stay that way as long as you water, fertilize and keep the weeds out.

On a normal lot a crew of 4 should be able too prep and lay 10k sq/ft in a day. No more than 2. |

How are you removing the old sod? A sod cutter IMO is the most efficient as far as minimizing waste to haul off, but if the old lawn is really uneven a sod cutter may not work well. Also just my opinion, but DON'T rototill the old sod under. While trying to regrade the clumps of old sod will drive you insane. If you know a guy with a Harley Rake or can rent one that's probably the best option. How much soil will you need to import for regrading? How much material needs to be moved around for regrading, and how long will it take you to do it? How are you disposing of waste material- sod, excess dirt, rocks, roots, etc.? Don't underbid this job, if you haven't done these before you may find that there is more to it than you think. |

im going to be using a harley rake to tear up the whole lawn. my machine rental is about 450 A day but if this job goes throuh i might just buy a used one, the lawn is 8k and im goingg to look at it this week but im just guessing 10 yards to grade it out
