gehl's?

I am looking at a 2004-05 gehl 4835. it has 950hrs. oil cooled turbo diesel, cab (no heat or ac), over maintained. It was always sheded and the paint looks new. engine and hyd pump "looked" dry as a bone (havent lifted the cab yet). I test drove it briefly and everything seems very tight and responsive. Never used in construction, just used as a farm hand. I don't have much experience with this brand but the price seems too good to pass up. i was just wondering if anyone has expierence with these machines (good or bad) or if there is any particular things i should watch out for. thanks

I own a 5640e Turbo and it is great 1100 trouble free hours, have owned since new! Looking at adding a al540 for the price and durabilty you can't beat it.

alldayrj- the old farmer started out at 15k on the phone and upon arrival said he'd let it go for 14k. we didnt even haggle him! i think were going to go back this week and give it anoter good look-over and make him an offer. that price seems to be well under market value (around here anyway). i recently saw a similar skid with over 2k hrs and all beat up with an asking price of 18k.

I would assume it is the same as my 5640, put the arms up and lock them, block the rear of the machine, inside the door on that lip is a bolt on each side should be a 15/16 (if i remeber correctly) socket and take those out and push the cab up and there should be a metal plate near the pivot pins that locks the cab in the up position.

had to write a check for 14k to get the machine on the trailer. Its been a week and so far i think it was an ok deal. Defenatley not a steal by any means but we all know its hard to find a steal on a piece of used equipment.

You don't always have to steal it for it to be a good deal. You can pay fair market and get exceptional quality which seems to be the case with you
