trailer wiring ground (Truck)

my running lights on my truck work but the ones for my trailer dont...i know its my truck and not the trailer because i have checked using a different truck...everytime i plug my trailer in the trailer running light fuse blows...i have been told that it is most likely a bad ground...i have tried tracing the wiring back but have had no luck finding the ground...does anyone know of where i can find it or any other solution to this problem? the truck in question is a 05 silverado 2500HD reg cab 8 ft bed
