Facebook posts
What are you guys doing to keep people informed/entertained/etc? What are you posting about and how often?
What are some good tips to build an audience? Do you see much return from Facebook? |

I haven't been too successful at this but I have a friend that makes an effort to follow local high school sports and will post something about a game or ask who will win, usually gets some good attention and thus good exposure for his business. I know once he brought some doughnuts for his friends sons high school team and just mentioned his Facebook and got some likes from the high schoolers which may not sound ideal but their parents saw it on their news feed and with his posts about sports it just snowballed because they felt he was just engaging without pushing his business. Really quite a genius if you ask me.

Check with your web host. Some like Vistaprint will help you build a page and maintain it for 9 bucks a month.

Facebook ads are pretty cheap. A "click" will cost less than half what it would on Google. All you get, though, is a follower- not a client. That is only worth it if you have a strategy for Facebook.

Anybody else having any success with regular posts? How often are you updating. What are you doing to find more followers.
You can now "promote a post" which is usually like 5-15 bucks to get in front of a few hundred to a few thousand people. |

I like to update out page every week or so with a picture or short update... everyone hates pages that bombard you. And we're also not Wal-Mart! So I don't want to act like it and be annoying.
Pictures! People like pictures, especially in our line of work. I've had some decent bites off our facebook page. I haven't done anything to really get more aggressive with it and market.

I've said this before on lawnsite. Facebook is INTERRUPTION marketing. People aren't likely to FRIEND/Like you because they are in love with Landscaping.
However, I think it could be wise to post some things that your customer may be looking for. Example... Regional items of interest, links to tutorials that are informative about lawncare that you didn't even author. A few tools that I think could be useful for this (all are free).
If you have an iPad, both of these tools have apps that interact with one another. In other words, set up your feeds on feedly and then send the ones you like to buffer. Good luck to you Rick |
