How do you expect to do any unplanned extra work while driving your civic? I have customers come out all the time and have me do extra work while I am there doing their lawn. Are you going to drive home to go get your pickup to get that bush or wood you just dragged out of the customers yard?

Trucks are for work, civics are not

This doesn't make much sense to me. Why not just use the truck all of the time? If you're trying to save on gas then maybe trade the Civic for an S-10?

Go with an S10 or a van. Then you won't need a trailer.

What is wrong with the truck? What is wrong with your business that after 5 years you still work out of a civic? I would put a mini landscaper bed on the truck and use it for what it was made for.
