What are some of the most painful parts of your business

Hey All,

I'm going to make this short and sweet because nobody wants to read a long drawn out forum post. Time is money and I fully respect that.

I have a question for you lawn guys, because I'm curious about the lawn care industry.

What is the single thing you hate doing everyday but must be done in order for your business to run daily?

I second dog poo. I usually take the customers hose and clean it off my mower but it still stinks. The second worse thing is probably weather. If I need to cut alot of lawns it usually rains, and if I need to do a big Fall Cleanup its usually gusting 35+ out making my life a living he!!. Welcome to the forum by the way

Yep dog crap and weather.

Dog crap just smells and it never fails, you will always hit a pile with your string trimmer at times and trust me, it goes everywhere!

The weather never wants to cooperate. Like mentioned above, I hate trying to do a cleanup and the wind does nothing until I start blowing and it just blows leaves all over the place.

Poo piles, wind, and working around or between rose bushes... or anything bearing thorns for that matter. Always seem to get stabbed by thorns, and most of the time, it's when I'm not even tending to those plants.

Does anyone do a quick walkaround of the property and place those little mini flags by the dog doodie piles so they can be avoided and gone back over lightly with a trimmer?

no way i would rather mow over poop than hit it with a trimmer , that stuff will hit you right in the face , when my customers have dogs , especially the large dogs i try to use my rider , if there is crap everywhere the lawn usually isn't that nice anyhow , just mow it and be done with it. my most painful part bees , man those things can get you good if you don't see them , especially when trimming , other than that kids toys in the yard , always manage to miss a small water gun or something and oops , mulched up crap everywhere , and napkins are the worst to hit.

There's a couple yards where they pay for me to scoop the poop before mowing, but aside from that, it all goes squish.
