How to wash a pool deck
What kind of cleaning solution do you use around a pool deck? Not sure what type of surface it is but it's NOT any type of wood. More like concrete surfaced.
The edges are surrounded by grass but no bushes or plants. Do you need to be careful about getting solution in the pool? Thanks for any advise. |

I have used mixtures of JoMax, water, and bleach for concrete and it works fine. Try not to get it in the pool as its not good, but a little wont hurt

Bleach and liquid chlorine are both one in the same (sodium hypochlorite) and will cause no harm to the pool up to moderate amounts. I don't know what's in JoMax so can't speak to that. I'd go without the JoMax to play it safe.
//edit// Curiosity got the best of me. I looked up the MSDS for JoMAx. Cancerous to lab rats. That's all I had to see. I'd keep JoMax away from the pool. Here' is the sheet on it: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdf...eb68717e63.pdf.

You know it's funny that a lot of products that you can get from the box stores like Scotts, are made to look so safe and are sometimes worse than the professional products you have to be licensed (or should be) to to buy.
thanks for reply |

Be careful using a surface cleaner on pool decks, especially Cool Decks. Make sure you you nozzle down or adjust your pressure so as not to chip away the surface, especially if you see any hairline crakcs. I usually give a good coating of Bleach Water and Soap and then lightly rinse. Nthing I use will harm the pool if it gets in it it but we always spray AWAY from the pool edge. Here are a couple Kingwood Texas Pool Deck Cleanings we did a couple weeks ago. No high pressure was used.

Nice! Do you use a scrub brush at all or is it all solution and rinse? Also, do you think a concrete driveway could be done using that method?

Getting bleach in the pool won't hurt it at all, in fact it will help it. We pour about 7-10 gallons in ours every year to clear the algae when we open our pool.
Household liquid bleach is the same thing as the expensive chlorine tablets that you put in pool skimmers to kill algae throughout the summer.

wildstarblazer, driveways need high pressure with a surface cleaner for fast and best results. as far as pool decks with concrete same thing. if the pool deck looks like the one doug rucker did no scrub brush just heavy soaps let sit and dwell and rinse

Driveways it all depends on the surface. if it is river rock then many times the solution cleans it up.. painted driveways, solution and lite rinse. Concrete I always pretreat, surface clean, then treat again and let dry without rinsing.
