Magnets? Ya don't need no stinkin' magnets!
Whaddaya think the filter is for?? In most systems, all the oil in the tank is filtered before it gets to the pump,no? You might could attach a magnet to a dowel and periodically fish around in the tank to check for excessive particles, but all that's gonna do is create undo worry. The pumps will tell ya when its time to fix em!

Fish...I usually put the magnets on the hydrotank after cleaning the system...after a pump grenades..
No matter how good you clean the tank and flush the system..there always seems to be a few fragments that hang around.. I try to postion them closest to the hydro filter feed...so they grab the metal before it reaches the filter.. It might be about time to have a contest to name my new puppy...there he is now...
