New Kaw FH-500-V date of mfg 08-03???

Just received a new replacement engine for my TurfTracer 17HP. Found a great price from Small Engine Warehouse on new, cosmetic scratch & dent Kawasaki FH-500V....Was new, only dent was minor in the OEM oil filter. Mounted it up and in runs fine, noticed the sticker on engine the Date of Mfg. is 0803.
Guess I'm OK with it, since I'm reading a lot of posts about newer Kawasaki engines not like they used to be.

Not as happy w/air filtration on the 500, not as robust as the 481 KAI it replaced.

Should not be using a FH500V to replace a FH481V. Emissions police would not be happy with that.

Wouldn't the shroud and air package interchange with the FH500...???

khutch, actually that a/f did a good job, if you can keep the damn cover on.
Those KAI filters have a nasty habit of collapsing under normal tightening.
