Large Sod Job

Thanks muddywater. Good points I'm just afraid of being labor shy and having 2 guys + me and having the smalle palletized rolls take a while and a beating. I mean that's close to 17-19 pallets of 70 rolls.

And I haven't even submitted my estimate yet!

Big rolls are the only way to go. Especially if you have one if these.

What is the smallest job you would do with your dedicated machine? With our taki and sod roller, maneuvering around is tough if it isnt wide open. Do you roll 48" rolls with that?

We lay primarily 30" rolls. Sometimes 42". The machine is 48 " wide so you can put a pallet fork attachment on it to move pallets around. I wouldnt do smaller than a 250 sq yd job with.

I sell 2-4 jobs a week in spring and summer. I use two guys with bobcat mt52 for smaller spaces and bobcat t190 with Harley rake on larger areas. I sub out the sod installation I would be charged $3800 to lay it 15k sq'. but I charge $8k

I am guessing those next to impossible to find used. How much are they new?

I did a 7000 sq ft job a week or two ago with 1 helper. Small rolls 500sq ft to pallet of Bermuda. We prep, layed sod, edged it all, made small flower bed installed all shrubs and flowers, watered it, and overseed north side of house all in 1 day. 14 pallets of sod small rolls... it can be done.. we worked hard but didn't kill ourselves. Oh and we took down portion of privacy fence and reinstalled. Staging pallets is critical!

The right customer with the right budget will certainly pay $15,000. Most people likely have also done some research when committing to such a big investment and probably have a good idea of a price range to expect.

We just placed a bid (& got it) for an 18,000 SQ FT lawn that is just the front lawn! That money doesn't even phase this guy his lawn is his top priority.
