Watching a FB post explode

I just thought this was interesting enough to share. I've mentioned in other threads that social media, especially Facebook, is all about posting stuff that people will find interesting enough to share. I also mentioned that what takes off is random and hard to predict.

So I was sitting in the car waiting on an appointment today and realized I'm behind on FB posts. I flipped through pics on my phone and came across a bench that a local guy made and my friend is selling at her shop. Cool product, I'm actually using one for a client, people should like it. Done.

I checked back three hours later and the photo has been shared over 150 times and has been seen by over 8,000 people! Holy crap. Is this likely to result in a lead for me? Probably not, but I may pick up a few new followers and down the road THAT may turn into a lead. It's playing the long game.

Here's a screen shot for proof:

People react to extremes. Post a before and after pic of a real turd of a yard that you did a complete makeover on.

It's so bizarre. I've posted before and afters, I've posted what I thought were some really cool project pics, and nothing has gotten this kind of traction. As of right now the photo's been shared 295 times. I'm really, really wishing I would've watermarked it with my company info!

Interesting.

That is a cool bench though, I might have to make one for myself. I even have that exact tailgate in my garage, the problem is that my tailgate is attached to my '63 Chevy.

And yes, I am also going to share your pic. Make that 296 shares.

Actually current tally is 411 shares. Dude.

Your website says you're up in Luray? The shop selling that bench is here in Culpeper, man. Come on down, we'll grab a cup of coffee, and you can even keep the tailgate on your truck.

That's incredible, you just never know what's going to get attention.

I'd love to meet up sometime, I didn't realize you were that close. I actually go to Culpeper fairly often, I buy a lot from A & B Kearns over there.

Last week I noticed there's a new barbeque place on 522 next to Grey Ghost gun shop, do you know if it's any good?

They're so sweet there at Kearns. For BBQ we go to Culpeper Cattle Company right in downtown.

My contact Info's on my site (link in my signature) so let me know if you're headed this way. I'm not in town every day but I'm trying for more studio days this spring.

PC, the internet works in mysterious ways. I would imagine it ended up on Pinterest as well.
