Hydro oil question

Just put back together a lesco z-two aka cub cadet tank. It has the 2+ GALLON reservoir.. One pump was blown up when I got it. All lines and tanks cleaned spotless. Wheel motors flushed with kerosene then lots of oil. One new pump and the other old pump manually put some fresh oil through it.. Basically cleaned as best as possible with out further Tear down. Filter is huge holds like a quart. Machine calls for like 20w50, couldn't find any local that I liked. Googled and discovered 15w40 rotella-t was popular hydro oil, always liked that oil so that was what I decided to use.. Rotella-t seems to be a very good heavy duty oil.. Was this a good oil choice? Now the reservoir hold 2+ gallons. I couldn't justify synthetic for the first fill. With a tank that large, do I need or would I see any benefit to go synthetic? Not sure synthetic would have any advantage? Now since I put on new pump and had the system open, should I change filter and or oil in like 25-50 hours? And how long should I let filter and oil changes go normally? With 2qt systems synthetic and 100-200 hr changes are a no brainier, but mine holds so much oil the oil change gets expensive.. So anybody have any answers comments or suggestions to help solve my quandaries?? To ease my mind? I figure if it survives the first 50 hrs I should be fine. Just have to figure out the hydro maintenance schedule to prolong life as long as possible...

Except every manufacture specs something different. I figured a better oil was more important than being being slightly heavier. If I can find a wix or other name brand hydro filter of the right micron rating, I am going to run one over the no name no spec made in USA one I got from the dealer.

Ya think maybe the machine OEM calls for 20w50 because Hydro-Gear calls for 20w50 ?

Wouldn't you think Hydro-Gear has done extensive testing on their products before putting them out on the market, And knows what's best suited for their product ?
