gulfjoe - did you start your bermuda from seed or sod ?
question to everyone else: i have a spot that Im thinking about sodding or seeding - not sure just yet which method ... but have any of you used bermuda SEED before? if so I hear conflicting info on whether or not to use wheat straw or not when seeding... any thoughts? |

419 is so cheap it's hard to justify using seed, especially the expensive improved varieties like Yukon or Princess. I had about 10k sq ft to do so I did spread Triangle seed (mixed with cracked corn). I used a tractor and box blade to prep the seed bed. NO STRAW! You have to keep it moist for about 3 weeks and do it when it's hot. This is the third year and it looks pretty good.

I'll probably pull the mowers and trailer out of the garage and "de-winterize" them next week, then start scalping everything the first week of April. |

I have noticed a lot of green where my turf is not very thick. I am hoping after aeration and a good fert program it might thicken up in some areas. My plan of attack as of right is to mow next weekend then aerate mid April with my first fert app. What are your plans of attack?
