I started out using trimmers bought from Lowes. They rarely lasted more than a season. Two years ago I went to a Stihl 90R and its still running strong. The bolt holding the head in place has sheared off and the head is slowly revolving around the shaft but it starts everytime and runs great. Go Stihl

get a husqvarna 224L or 223L at lowes. they should last you 10-20 years.

Yes,Get a new Husqvarna 223L 2 stroke very lite ,224L 4 stroke no mixing .

6 in one half a dozen in the other. The br 400 i got started with is still being used by my cousin i think its 18 years old the same can be said for echo. Dont buy from the big box stores if you can help it. Find a good shop and develope a relationship. Try to find parts for a husqvarna. Sthil and echo are plentiful . I will say husqvarna makes a great product.
