Should I call or leave it alone??

Put in my first estimate today for this season and really my first real estimate period. Last year I already personally knew all of my clients so it was pretty easy going. Did my door hangers early in the week got a call for a estimate, so I made up a template so I could leave it with the guy, well I get there today and the guy wasn't there his wife was and she either wanted nothing to do with me or has no input in who takes care of there property! So I did my thing walked around the property checking it out even though I already had a idea of what I would be charging thanks to google maps.
So I left my estimate with a business card attached to it just in case, should I call the guy tomorrow to make sure he got it or had any questions or just leave it alone! I really wanna get into this area and its were I advertised the most but I also don't wanna seem demanding or pushy!

I would call
I called few today to check on the status.
One of them I got since I pick few more up around this one business I told them I could discount my price down 10% on mowing since I was going be there for 3 other jobs. They told me come by so set the contact up.
I do full service jobs 365 year contacts.

Excellent!!! I just don't wanna seem pushy and had I spoken with the guy who called me I probably wouldn't be as insistent to call but mainly just wanna make sure he understands what I have to offer and why price is what it is

You have done exactly what I would do. I leave paperwork on door, then call customer as I'm leaving the house to go over the estimate. I advertise 'free estimates' and have found alot of people will call several companies for prices and I am generally not the cheapest. I would rather have fewer accounts at a fair price then I would a lot of accounts a a cheap price.

Call...you are not a salesman if you don't take the initiative. Wife could be angry at the husband--or could be highly green in attitude.
However...a reward or tiny gift to give the customer will make it easier to sell him, and perhaps soften up her attitude. Think of something. Expert opinion on the soil conditions. Perhaps simplified soil test (buy the kit or pH meter at Home Depot). Sample size bag of grass seed. Couple of gladiolus bulbs. Packet of flower seed. Coupon for 1000sqft of aeration. Sample size bag of fert for flowers(organic of course--Milorganite of course).
Perhaps you could get in touch with the man--and ask if he would like a soil test--then you can email it to him, along with your expert recommendations customized to his grass type, soil and shade conditions.
Physical object--you have to drive over and meet with him after 5 pm--which is good. Otherwise you can email soil and weed report. Or you can mail him a packet of flower seed.

Its the world's oldest sales tactic--give your prospect a gift. He feels obligated to reciprocate--by buying from you, of course.

Well spoke with the guy today he understood my estimate which was awesome and he's going to let me know hopefully I get it
