I do not at all understand how to get the google plus local. Tony, could u please pm me for more info on it. We have been live for a few months now but do not even show up when searching for lawn care lafayette, in. It's frustrating bc we have been in the top few organic results but no local rankings. Any ideas?

Nothing wrong w organic, just a different beast. To show up in the local 7 pack you need to do a couple things.

1- Claim and optimize your Google Places page. Or, if you have a Google+ page, get it verified. G+ Local is now supporting Service Area Businesses, so this is not so difficult. Check out the Blumnethal blog, or for advice on claiming and optimizing. Make sure you understand if you need to hide your address.

2- Citations. Make sure that your NAP is correct everywhere. Use the exact same format as your Places or G+ page. Get your business listed as many places as possible. This is not about links- it's about having your info correct everywhere in the local ecosystem.

3- On page. Your NAP should be on every page of your website. Use markup for it. Have a Google map or KHML map on your About page.

4- Local citations and links. Seek out citations and links that have a local scent.

Rinse and repeat!
