i got the suspension insert on ebay for $150. it works great for me.

oh i forgot to mention you can buy a yellow suspension seat that deere has on their new mowers now. i'm sure they will cost more than the black michigan seat though.

Yes .I had to fab it some so i could slide the seat .Here are some pics.

It looks like you had to cut the raised portion out for the slide adjustment. is that correct?

i had the same problem but i didn't cut mine out. i just set it where i wanted it and turned the lever around backwards. mine is not adjustable though unless i unbolt the seat but i don't need to since i have it set correctly for me. noone else uses the mower since i'm solo.
