yea. iv no idea where he gets his filler text or why its in latin. he's probably high while he's coding.

the images on the right will scroll and be smaller, clickable.

wonder what would make the header look better?

When you say "he", does this imply you're having the site designed for you? People get a little touchy when it comes to defending their guy, or their own work, but if you're paying for that, the very first element of the banner image, and your brand, is not good work at all. The dithering around everything is the easiest thing to point out.

The first pic of the guy mowing, which I believe was originally a vendor pic, is used by a ton of sites.

I'd also recommend that you run the site through a code validator before any final payment. validator.w3.org

its a little better. i think the grass along bottom could be much better. and the 3 leaves image with circle looks pretty washed out and dull. you can probably find some stock images to use here http://us.fotolia.com/ i always find some good stuff to use there, and they are reasonably priced.

It seems like your on the right track for a basic site. I'd have something like a button or graphic that stands out that will direct potential clients to an estimate form.. "click here for free estimate!" or something.. I use http://www.emailmeform.com they have free plans, its easy to use and set up and its been very reliable for me as i get 85% of my leads from the estimate form on my website.

The logo is supposed to ahve a hand pencil sketched look. its not quite finished. the circle will be a vine with leaves coming off of it. ill try a version where behind the leafs is just white. might look better
