Well they look pretty similar.

St. Augustine will do well in shady areas, average recovery and wear tolerance, and no seed available. It will respond well to fertilizers.

Carpet has poor wear and tear and is available as seed sometimes sold as a carpet/centipede mix. It is often considered a weed in other types of turf. Can take wet areas better. Ive seen it take a good amount of shade but not as much as SA.

They both spread by stolons only, poor cold tolerance, good salt tolerance, and both perform poorly in drought conditions.

Hope thats what you were looking for.

Difference between St Augustine and Carpetgrass?

I have a customer that has one of the two in their back yard. It isn't very common to see either in my area. I need to figure out which one it is so I can decide to eradicate it an establish Bermuda or treat the area and bring it back to life.
