How Do You Charge For Repair Work?

I charge so much per hour per man, plus charge retail price for all parts that I use to fix system. Is this the most common way? Just curious how everyone else does it. Because I got a guy that wants me to replace all of his heads, which is 85, plus replace his clock. So should I charge markup on heads, which is retail price, plus my hourly rate? Please Help!

I'm confused are you running a business or non-profit? Maybe a little cut in the rate for a larger project but you have to make money.

Service call fee, hourly rate, and as much mark up as the client will tolerate. When doing large quantities like you mentioned, you can afford to bring the mark up rate down.

IMO, material markups cover the cost of managing & stocking inventory along with any potential warranty work. I also believe if you pay retail ... then charge retail.

If you can't make 45% mark-up on parts and still not be above list, something is wrong.

I get my parts at contractor price, which is for example $6 for a Rainbird
5000. And I sell them for $18 a head, plus my hourly rate. What do you guys charge per per rotor head, spray head, and ect?

Very correct, also we shouldn't be paying retail unless its closer to get an oddball item at a local hardware store rather driving to a supply house, then just eat that little profit. I still am amazed how guys want to get into a business and then try to figure out how to make money doing it. Should be the other way around.

As far as the trades go, i have never heard of one professional asking another about pricing. A true professional either has the moxie or needs to pass til he acquires the moxie.

I am not pointing fingers at the OP so don't get sore-backed, I have seen this on the forum before but chose to throw my hat in the fire today.
